The work continues, in a beautiful way, today with cutting some kippings' in advance of the next gathering this week. We are more used to the night time setting at An Stábla, but here is a November day view of the progress of the project. There is something magical, deeply familiar and fitting about playing music at An Stábla. It is the type of setting in rural East Clare where so much of our music was played. Modest, rustic surroundings that seem to draw the music out, co
Nature always showing the essence of how to be during the various seasons of the year. The stillness of a November day, with its multitude of dark grey shades, intermixed with bursts and reflections of white in a black backdrop, provides the opportunity for stillness. Everything stands still, the wind yet to arrive to stir things up again. Slowing things down opens up space for new seeds of creation. January, 2022. A one day event to kick-start the new year with new creat
Friends gathered to listen to the music and song by Tola Custy and Cyril O'Donoghue. The wind was howling as the rain fell beating against the half doors, but the music and belly stove ignited high energy in the space for the best part of two hours. The perfect audience of friends gathered to listen to this great duo and left on a high with a desire for more. Revisiting a CD recording from 1994, "Setting Free" with some new arrangements, Cyril and Tola captivated the sense
An evening of music by two Clare based musicians will take place at An Stábla on Saturday, 23rd October. We are doing it the old fashioned way, from here where only interested friends may visit and after that by a phone call, text or chance meeting. As friends of my website know, I am continuously working at An Stábla renovation project. The project evolves as do the days.
I am facilitating a workshop here at Turas House on December 4th with friends. Turas House is situated in the Slieve Aughty Mountain protected area of Mountshannon, East Clare. It is situated directly across from Iniscealtra (Holy Island), now identified as a pilgrim journey site on Lough Derg. The use of Mantra helps protect our minds from the constant flow of thoughts and negativities that prevent us from keeping in harmony with the rest of creation. The workshop will be
Do you love the scenery of East Clare? If so, a passion of mine for photographs can now be purchased as blank greeting cards. All my photographs are in their nature state, with no filters used. These cards are very special, bringing a little piece of East Clare to friends and loved ones and the cards are blank so that you can write a special, longer, more intimate message. Here are a sample of the photos and you can see more and order by contacting me on cliopatricia@gmai
Only a few days to go when fiddler @Pat O'Connor will deliver a masterclass from 10-11.30 a.m. on East Clare style and repertoire, at Cli's place, with musician friends, situated in the protected Slieve Aughthy mountain area of East Clare overlooking Iniscealtra (Holy Island). https://youtu.be/QMKthIGY3tQ
We have all experienced changes in our lives over the past 18 months. The entire arts sector is in a conundrum as it tentatively attempts to navigate the current climate. Those of us involved in the sector are looking for new ways to work, new ways to share our art as well as looking at alternatives to the way it has been. Mountshannon Arts Festival has presented a rich tapestry of multi-disciplinary arts within the community for 25 years this year. Their mission is to supp
Another fabulous weekend at An Stábla, a small group of four friends visited. It’s about great connections with friends, unwinding, rolling with the weather, getting wet and lost in wood walks, swims to Iniscealtra (Holy Island) and sharing great tunes in candle light at night.! And then the other talent that oozes out somehow with a little window of opportunity during the weekend. This painting of An Stábla, was left at the house for me. Deeply grateful and in awe of Jose

The setting is rural, rustic and modest. It is intentionally like this so that it may develop slowly in concept initially, then by inviting friends to test the space and then where participants can come and slow right down to delve into themselves for the weekend. Master classes on East Clare Irish traditional repertoire, style as well as workshops on how our body and mind affects our expression of music and ways to enhance our experience. This picture is special, our firs
Last night, in between jigs and reels lifting the rafters at the stablá, the moment of still contemplation in the midst of nature, the old fashioned way, no electricity, a slight chill in the air..... and space....
